Works Ministry begins mandatory inspections of commercial vehicles, announces demerit points plan

According to ChimpReports, the Commissioner for Transport Regulation and Safety, Winstone Katushabe, told a Uganda Law Society virtual engagement that mandatory inspections of buses, taxis and trucks had begun. He said the government was also reviewing the Electronic Penalty System and planned a driver demerit points system and biometric monitoring of public service vehicle drivers.
