Works Ministry shares review findings with transport stakeholders, keeps EPS and speed limit rules shelved

Works and Transport Minister Gen Katumba Wamala and his technical team met transport stakeholders to present the findings of a review of the automated Express Penalty Scheme and the new speed limit regulations, which were suspended in 2025. Ministry spokesperson Susan Kataike said more than 90 percent of the concerns raised by the public were valid, that countrywide consultations would begin in mid-March 2026, and that the rules would not be relaunched until there was agreement. According to the Daily Monitor, police will meanwhile keep enforcing the existing traffic laws.
