Butambala MP Muwanga Kivumbi appears in Butambala court on terrorism charges

Butambala County MP Muwanga Kivumbi, who is in detention, appeared before the Chief Magistrate's Court in Butambala for mention of charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act, according to ChimpReports. Prosecutors allege he organised attacks on state installations between 11 and 17 January; authorities link the case to attacks on a police station and an Electoral Commission tally centre in which seven people died. Kivumbi denies the allegations and has said security forces raided his home and killed members of his campaign team.
