Former Butambala MP and NUP Buganda Vice President Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi was taken by JATT operatives to Nateete Police Station and then produced in Butambala court, where he was charged with inciting violence and managing an unlawful society over remarks allegedly made at a public gathering in Gombe on 9 July 2026. The court remanded him to Kitalya prison until 11 August while the state verifies his sureties. His lawyer said bail arguments were deferred and that Kivumbi appeared weak and showed injuries in court.
