EC nullifies NUP candidate Mercy Abedican's nomination, declares Minister Phiona Nyamutoro unopposed in Nebbi

In a letter dated 13 November, Electoral Commission chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama said two of Mercy Rebecca Abedican's nominators denied signing her forms, leaving her below the required ten nominators, and the Commission nullified her nomination and declared Minister Phiona Nyamutoro elected unopposed. Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba and FDC's Moses Byamugisha criticised the decision and the practice of verifying nominators only after petitions are filed.
