Electoral Commission tells FDC to move Amuriat campaign launch from Soroti grounds to Mayors Gardens

In a closed-door meeting at its Soroti offices, the Electoral Commission told FDC to follow police advice and move its campaign launch venue from Soroti grounds to Mayors Gardens, according to the Daily Monitor. Registrar Charles Egimu said security had raised concerns that the original venue was close to Soroti Hospital, which reportedly treats Covid-19 patients. Soroti City Mayor Paul Omer (FDC) said police were using the pandemic as a pretext to restrict party activity.
