Gen Salim Saleh says he found detained Kizza Besigye 'almost dead' and moved him to JCRC

Speaking to chairpersons of parliamentary committees at Kapeeka in Nakaseke District, Gen Salim Saleh said that after a 25 August post by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba gave him responsibility for Kizza Besigye's case, he visited the detained opposition leader, found him in a life-threatening condition and arranged his transfer from Luzira Prison to the Joint Clinical Research Centre in Lubowa. Saleh said he has stayed in touch with Besigye but declined to call their contacts formal negotiations, and announced no agreement on his release.
