Policy & Legislation Single source Buvuma 21 Dec 2025 Severity: 1/5

According to Nile Post, the government started a re-survey and verification exercise in Buvuma District to compensate residents who say their land was taken for the oil palm project without payment. National Oil Palm Project Manager Susana Lakwonero said rightful claimants would be paid after verification, and the Deputy CAO said Shs14 million of the Shs28 billion needed had been secured. Some residents objected to the claimants' list, alleging it contains 'ghost' names, and a village chairperson questioned the timing during the political season.
