Nile Post reports that Joseph Nulu Byamukama, the sitting MP for Kitagwenda County, was nominated as an independent candidate after earlier pledging support for NRM flag bearer Robert Mugabe. Speaking after his nomination, Byamukama said he had re-entered the race to defeat candidates opposing Mugabe rather than out of personal ambition.
