Independent candidate Patricia Amne Aceng withdrew from the 2026 Lira City Woman MP race in a letter dated 5 December 2025 to the Electoral Commission chairperson, asking that her name be removed from the ballot. In the letter she said she was stepping down to preserve unity in the NRM, with which she keeps close ties.
