According to The Independent, members of the Itesot community from Abim, Kotido and Napak districts launched a campaign called "Dongo Ni Nura" ("No Land No Vote") at a hotel in Soroti city, linking their votes in the coming general elections to their claims over land in the Moru Alokwangat area. Their lawyer, Anthony Okanyum, said the community has faced killings, looting and discrimination since evictions last year, while the Soroti Resident District Commissioner advised them to submit their claims formally through the responsible authorities.
