The Daily Monitor reports that residents and local leaders physically stopped a tractor hired by Senior Commissioner of Police Timothy Halango from ploughing a disputed 66-acre piece of land in Mawembe Zone. Residents accuse him of seizing the land with forged agreements and say district police have threatened to arrest tenants and leaders; Mr Halango told the district security committee that he acquired the land lawfully. The Deputy RDC has called for calm and promised a mediation meeting.
