Kitgum district committee drafts ordinance to regulate charcoal production and trade

The Independent reports that Kitgum district council's sectoral committee on production drafted an ordinance to regulate the production, transport and marketing of charcoal, in line with an Acholi sub-region leaders' forum bill. LC5 chairperson Jackson Omona said it aims to curb forest degradation; council speaker Simon Loum said it will return for a second reading after scrutiny.
