Moroto municipal authorities demolish street vendors' kiosks and containers

Moroto municipal council authorities began demolishing kiosks and containers of street vendors after a relocation deadline expired, as part of a national trade-order drive, Uganda Radio Network reports. The Mayor said a phased approach had been agreed, accused authorities of using force, ordered police to withdraw and urged vendors to resist; the Town Clerk said the exercise would continue and that most vendors in South Division had complied.
