Nakasongola County MP Noah Mutebi Wanzara announced that he was withdrawing from the 2026 parliamentary race, Nile Post reports. He had lost the NRM primaries to Stephen Tebirondwa Bugingo and had planned to stand as an independent, citing irregularities. He said he was stepping aside so as not to work against his party's programmes, while maintaining that his defeat was not fair.
