NUP's Ivan Kyeyune declared MP for Nakasongola County, first opposition MP there in 40 years

Nakasongola District Returning Officer Rashidah Najjuka declared NUP's Ivan Kyeyune the MP for Nakasongola County, with 15,611 votes to 11,699 for his closest rival, Stephen Tiberondwa Bujjingo. According to the Daily Monitor, the area voted heavily for NRM's Yoweri Museveni for President, and local residents linked the result to Baruuli cultural identity, a view Kyeyune rejected.
