Soroti City returning officer declares NRM's Francis Esudu Obwonyo winner of mayoral race

According to the Daily Monitor, the Soroti City Returning Officer declared NRM candidate Francis Esudu Obwonyo mayor in the early hours of Friday after he polled 11,504 votes against 8,274 for FDC's Paul Omer. The NRM also won most directly elected councillor seats, while the returning officer withheld results for the East Division B women councillor seat, citing irregularities that needed correction.
