Tonny Kitara withdraws election petition against Justice Minister Norbert Mao in Laroo-Pece, Gulu

ChimpReports reported that Tonny Kitara, the NRM's defeated candidate for Laroo-Pece Division, is withdrawing the petition he filed in April against Norbert Mao's January 2026 election win, in which he had alleged campaign interference, misuse of a government vehicle and voter bribery. Kitara said the matter was not personal and cited Mao's appointment to Cabinet by the NRM chairman; lawyers for both sides are preparing papers to have the petition struck out at the High Court in Gulu.
