Protest & Civil Unrest Single source Amuru 4 May 2026 Severity: 2/5

Xinhua, via The Independent, reports that regional transit truck drivers parked hundreds of cargo trucks at border points and suspended operations on the Uganda-South Sudan corridor, demanding the return of joint highway security patrols after a colleague was killed in South Sudan the previous month. Amuru Resident District Commissioner Geoffrey Osborn Oceng said the trucks were parked in his area and that authorities would meet the transporters and invite South Sudanese leaders.
