UHRC Tribunal in Mbarara orders government to pay Shs80m over 2013 death of trader in Sheema police cell

ChimpReports reports that, in a ruling delivered by Commissioner Shifrah Lukwago, the UHRC Tribunal in Mbarara awarded Shs80 million to the widow of a trader who died in October 2013 while detained at Kishozi Police Post in Sheema District. According to the report, the body was returned to the family in a police vehicle with no satisfactory explanation of the death; the Tribunal dismissed two other complaints for lack of evidence.
