Works Minister Byamukama orders probe into alleged alteration of Biiso-Masindi oil road design in Buliisa

During an inspection of Bunyoro oil roads, Works and Transport Minister Fred Byamukama ordered an investigation into allegations by residents and leaders that ministry officials and contractor China Railway Seventh Group altered the design of the 47km Biiso-Masindi road, destroying a water pumping system serving more than 30 villages. According to the Daily Monitor, the contractor and ministry technical officers first denied the water source was destroyed and that affected persons were uncompensated, but the contractor later admitted the issues and promised to start compensation the following month.
