13 parliamentary candidates nominated in Kisoro, including NRM defector Hellen Mbonye on NUP ticket

The Kisoro District Returning Officer nominated Hellen Mbonye, a former NRM contender, to contest the District Woman MP seat on the NUP ticket, as part of a first day in which 13 parliamentary candidates in Kisoro were nominated, according to the Daily Monitor. Mbonye said she left the NRM over unfair treatment and called for an end to intimidation of NUP candidates and supporters. Police deployed extra forces in Bufumbira South after what the district police commander described as intelligence of possible violence between rival supporters.
