Lawyers and civil society activists said human rights activist Praise Aloikin Opoloje was taken from Namungoona Police Station, where she had been summoned, by armed men who did not identify themselves or say where they were taking her, according to the Daily Monitor. By Sunday, police and defence authorities had not publicly confirmed where she was held or whether she had been charged. Uganda Law Society president Isaac Ssemakadde demanded her immediate release and called for an investigation.

Disputed: Early Daily Monitor reports (27 Sep) said Opoloje was taken from Namungoona Police Station by unidentified armed men, suggesting an abduction; later reports (Daily Monitor, ChimpReports, 28 Sep) describe a police arrest over alleged broadcasting without a licence, with Opoloje held at Kampala Central Police Station.
