Allied Health Professionals' Council closes at least 27 health facilities in Wakiso crackdown

According to the Daily Monitor, a two-month operation in Wakiso District has closed at least 27 health facilities over unlicensed or unqualified staff, forged or expired licences and poor hygiene. Officials of the Allied Health Professionals' Council of Uganda named facilities including Mercy Medical Centre, St Jesus Medical Clinic, Top Clinic, Wangu Medical Centre and Oasis Medical Centre. Authorities said names of unlicensed practitioners would go to regulators and some could be referred to police.
