Defeated LC1 chairpersons in Katabi Town Council allege rigging and security interference in village polls

Electoral Malpractice Verified Wakiso 28 Jul 2026 Severity: 2/5

Former village chairpersons in Katabi Town Council told journalists that Electoral Commission officials counted entry slips instead of voters in line, that security officers chased residents away, and that soldiers brought trainees from Kasenyi who were not registered in the village. One former chairperson said officials did not record his tally on the Declaration of Results form. The Daily Monitor said it could not verify the allegations; EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi urged aggrieved candidates to file formal complaints with the commission.
