Entebbe Municipality evicts traders and demolishes kiosks while enforcing trade order

Policy & Legislation Verified Wakiso May 2026 (day not reported) Severity: 3/5

Municipal authorities in Entebbe have been enforcing the Ministry of Local Government's trade order, demolishing kiosks and a workshop and moving traders to formal markets, according to Daily Monitor. Traders allege the enforcement was selective and carried out without adequate notice or relocation space, with one saying about 150 people were affected in Kitooro. Resident District Commissioner Frank Kyazze urged traders to comply and said an audit would check whether the exercise was being used to settle land disputes.
