Humanitarian & Crises Verified Wakiso 2 Jul 2026 Severity: 3/5

A government charter flight carrying 273 Ugandans who opted for voluntary repatriation from South Africa arrived at Entebbe International Airport, where they were received by Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Haruna Kasolo. According to the report, the evacuation follows anti-illegal immigration protests and xenophobic violence in South Africa, and President Museveni directed that the government meet all costs. Officials said more than 800 Ugandans had registered for repatriation and more flights would follow.
