Inspectorate of Government arrests Rubanda District officials over alleged embezzlement

Officers of the Inspectorate of Government's Kabale regional office arrested Rubanda District local government officials and the director of a consulting firm on charges of embezzlement, theft and abuse of office, according to the Daily Monitor. The charge sheets allege embezzlement of about Shs107.7 million and theft of about Shs67.4 million between January and March 2023. Six officials were taken to Kampala to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court, while two others facing the same charges were reported to be on the run.
