James Leku wins NRM primary for Adjumani West by-election

Former district chairperson James Leku won the NRM flag for the Adjumani West parliamentary by-election in a primary decided by lining up behind candidates at 99 polling stations. According to the Daily Monitor, the NRM District Registrar declared him winner with 9,336 votes against 9,152 for Ben Anyama, among seven contenders. The seat fell vacant after the death of Gen Moses Ali; the paper reported heavy police and UPDF deployment at one polling station and low turnout at some stations.
