Kira Municipality election petition hearing: EC returning officer tells court of results discrepancies

At the Wakiso High Court Circuit, Justice George Okello heard NRM candidate Daniel Kananura's petition against the election of NUP's George Musisi as Kira Municipality MP, and cautioned the petitioner's lawyers against using cross-examination to search for evidence. According to the Daily Monitor, EC returning officer Tolbert Musinguzi testified that there were discrepancies between returns forms and computer-generated results, which he said were small, and that system synchronisation raised all candidates' totals, including Musisi's from 21,561 to 24,848. The hearing was adjourned to 12 October.
