The Kisoro District Council suspended the District Service Commission, including its chairperson Erasmus Nshaka, pending investigations into alleged bribery, nepotism and irregular recruitment, Daily Monitor reports. A committee report presented to council alleged that more people were recruited than posts advertised and councillor Philip Ntacyotugira claimed job seekers paid Shs10-15 million; the speaker directed that the Inspectorate of Government be petitioned. The Chief Administrative Officer denied wrongdoing, and a lawyer said the commission would challenge the suspension in court.
Disputed: Councillors allege bribery and nepotism by the commission, while the CAO denies involvement and the commission's lawyer says the suspension was unlawful.
