Mawogola North runner-up Tumwebaze files petition challenging NRM MP-elect Sodo's victory

Independent candidate John Jet Tumwebaze, runner-up in the Mawogola North parliamentary race, filed an election petition at Masaka High Court against NRM winner Godfrey Aine Kaguta (Sodo), the Electoral Commission and the returning officer, according to the Daily Monitor. Through his lawyer, Tumwebaze alleges that Sodo lacks the required academic qualifications and that the election was marred by voter intimidation, bribery, kidnapping of agents and omission of results from some polling stations.
