Sembabule lands officer arrested and charged with embezzlement and corruption over land titling fees

Sembabule senior lands management officer Emmanuel Champion Kananura was arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court and remanded on charges including embezzlement, abuse of office and corruption. Prosecutors allege he collected money from applicants under a government-subsidised titling scheme between 2024 and 2026, totalling nearly Shs1 billion. The district land board secretary was also arrested, according to the Deputy CAO.
