Asigario Turyagyenda, the NRM candidate for Bukimbiri County, has filed Election Petition No. 1 of 2026 at the High Court in Kabale challenging the election of independent MP Eddie Kwizera, according to ChimpReports. He alleges voter intimidation, bribery and ballot stuffing affected the result; official results gave Kwizera 14,761 votes to Turyagyenda's 12,553. The court has directed Kwizera and the Electoral Commission to respond within 10 days of service.
