NUP northern deputy president Dr Zedriga reported taken by security forces in Gayaza; UPDF denies holding her

According to an affidavit by her personal assistant, NUP deputy president for Northern Uganda Dr Zedriga Lina Waru Abuku was taken from her home in Kyetume B, Gayaza, at about 7:40pm on 15 January 2026 by joint security forces and has not been seen since. In a habeas corpus case before the High Court Civil Division, the Attorney General filed an affidavit from the Ministry of Defence stating that the UPDF and the intelligence directorate never arrested or held her. Police had not responded, and Justice Joyce Kavuma adjourned the matter on 23 January to await a police report.
