Police and Uganda Railways Corporation demolish structures on railway reserve in Kyengera, Wakiso

Police Field Force Unit officers and Uganda Railways Corporation enforcement officers evicted occupants and demolished structures on railway reserve land in Madanda Village, Kyengera Town Council, the start of a nationwide clearance of the Kampala–Kasese corridor, according to the Daily Monitor. A traditional healer's shrine in Bataka-Nabbingo was set ablaze during the clearance. Residents said they were not given enough time and demanded compensation; URC said notices had been issued since 2022 and that illegal occupants would not be compensated.
