Police officer shoots man dead during attempted arrest in Gayaza Sub-county, Kyankwanzi

A 40-year-old resident of Gayaza East LC1 in Kyankwanzi District died after being shot by a police officer during an attempted arrest over alleged threatening violence and assault. Police said the man attacked two officers with a spear, stones and pangas, injuring a sergeant, who fired warning shots before shooting him in the leg; he died hours later at Gayaza Health Centre III. Police said the case was reclassified as murder and one officer was arrested.
