Polling officials in Wakiso let some voters cast ballots without biometric verification in local polls

Uganda Radio Network reporters registered in Wakiso District said that at one polling station during the sub-county, town and municipal division elections, officials issued them ballot papers without using the Biometric Voter Verification Kit, while voters ahead of them were verified. The polling assistant did not explain why; the Electoral Commission has said biometric verification is mandatory. URN said it was seeking comment from the Wakiso District Returning Officer.
