Rwampara District Production Officer arrested on minister's orders over Shs1.1b accountability

Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara ordered the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to arrest Rwampara District Production Officer Deogracious Begumisa during a stakeholders' meeting at the district headquarters, according to the Daily Monitor. The minister said the officer had failed to account for Shs1.1b allocated in FY 2025/2026, including funds for extension workers; before his arrest the officer denied the allegations, saying staff had fabricated them.
