Rwampara Woman MP Molly Asiimwe withdraws independent candidacy after meeting First Lady

Rwampara District Woman MP Molly Asiimwe Musiime, nominated as an independent in October, withdrew from the 2026 race and endorsed NRM flagbearer Annah Kansiime at a ceremony at her home in Rugando. Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, who officiated, said she had met First Lady Janet Museveni, who advised her to leave the race.
