Security agencies detain over 1,000 foreign nationals in cybercrime operation in Kampala and Wakiso

Anonymous security sources told ChimpReports that a CID-led joint operation detained more than 1,000 foreign nationals, mostly Chinese, at Kingdom Resort Katomi in Wakiso, nearby apartment blocks and in Naguru and Kansanga, over an alleged online fraud and hacking syndicate. The sources said computers and phones were seized and suspects held at a warehouse in Namanve. Investigators are also said to be examining allegations that SFC and UPDF First Infantry Division personnel guarded the compounds; neither the UPDF nor the SFC had commented and police had issued no statement.
