Security forces and NUP supporters clash at Bobi Wine campaign rally in Gulu City

Violence broke out around NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine)'s campaign rally in Gulu City, including at Awere Sports Ground. According to the Daily Monitor, eyewitness videos showed soldiers, armed police and masked plainclothes men confronting the candidate and his supporters, and one of his aides was injured. Acting Defence spokesperson Col Chris Magezi defended the deployment, saying the candidate and his supporters behaved defiantly and disturbed public order.
