Seven killed and three injured by security forces in Butambala during vote counting

Daily Monitor reported that seven people believed to be supporters of MP Muwanga Kivumbi were shot dead by security personnel and three injured in Butambala overnight on 15-16 January 2026. The regional police commander said supporters had stormed tally centres three times and that 25 people were arrested; Kivumbi denied the police account. NTV reported the killings took place at Kivumbi's home and that families dispute the authorities' version.
