Environmental Issues Single source Nakasongola 24 Nov 2020 Severity: 3/5

The Independent reports that strong winds on the night before the rains blew roofs off and brought down houses in villages along Lake Kyoga, including Munami, Mayinja and Gendera, leaving more than 300 people homeless and destroying crops. Local leaders said some residents sheltered at Munami primary school, and the district chairperson said the families had been due for relocation over rising lake waters and urged the Office of the Prime Minister to speed it up.
