Teenage student dies after beating; police deny link to Gulu campaign clashes

A 16-year-old student died of injuries after being badly beaten on the night of 6 December 2025. Some media and social media users linked his death to clashes during Robert Kyagulanyi's campaign in Gulu City that weekend. Police said in a statement that four juveniles attacked him on suspicion of stealing a phone, that the suspects remain at large, and that the death had no connection to campaign violence.
