Tonny Kitara petitions Gulu High Court to annul Norbert Mao's election as Laroo-Pece MP

According to the Daily Monitor, Tonny Kitara filed a petition in the High Court in Gulu to annul the 15 January 2026 election of Justice Minister Norbert Mao as MP for Laroo-Pece Division. Kitara alleges voter bribery, use of a government vehicle and police escorts in campaigning, and campaigning past the legal period, and says the Electoral Commission ignored his complaints. Mao was declared winner with 7,359 votes to Kitara's 2,867.
