Uganda Governance Monitor
According to an affidavit by their colleague Koffi Atinda, reported by the Daily Monitor, armed men in military and civilian clothes seized Kenyan activists Nicholas Oyoo and Bob Njagi at Starbex Petrol Station in Kaliro District after an NUP rally by Robert Kyagulanyi, and took them to the Defence Intelligence and Security headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala. The affidavit says they have been held without charge or access since 1 October 2025. Through their lawyers, the two filed a habeas corpus application in the High Court Civil Division in Kampala against the Chief of Defence Forces, the Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General.
Disputed: Accounts differ on where and how the two Kenyan activists were taken: Daily Monitor reports they were seized by security operatives at a petrol station in Kaliro after Kyagulanyi's rally, while Nile Post and The Independent place it at a petrol station in Kireka, Wakiso; ChimpReports describes them as detained by armed operatives, other reports as abducted by unidentified armed men.
