Two Kisoro parliamentary candidates apply to Chief Magistrate's Court for vote recounts

On Thursday, independent candidate Sam K. Bitangaro (Bufumbira South) and incumbent MP John Nizeyimana Kamara (Bufumbira North) filed applications for recounts at the Kisoro Chief Magistrate's Court under Section 74 of the Parliamentary Elections Act. Their lawyer, Rodgers Nabasa, said the DR forms showed improper counting and alleged ballot stuffing. NRM candidates had been declared winners by margins of 984 and 85 votes; the court was to hear the applications on 24 January.
