Policy & Legislation Single source Wakiso 6 Dec 2025 Severity: 1/5

According to the Nile Post, Wakiso District authorities stopped the movement of cattle, goats and sheep from abattoirs until veterinary checks are completed, after media reports of a tuberculosis-like disease in livestock. District Veterinary Officer Dr Bamundaga Kyobe Godfrey said a veterinary officer must inspect every carcass before release. Some abattoir operators said the fees and requirements were hard to meet without government support.
