Wakiso fisheries committee member alleges assault by SFC marine base commander during lake patrol near Nfo Island

At a meeting at Bugonga landing site on 19 September, a Kigungu landing site committee member alleged that the commander of the Special Forces Command marine base on Nfo Island took the patrol's phones and punched him while they held confiscated nets, the Daily Monitor reports. Committee members accused some UPDF personnel of protecting illegal fishing on Lake Victoria and threatened to quit; the 155 Marine Sector commander denied army involvement in illegal fishing and offered cooperation.
